I have been Type One for 43 years. I now take 4 shots per day. I averaged 3 per day, for 43 years. It is hard to believe that I have taken about 45,990 shots of insulin. (NPH, Lantus, Regular, Humalog, Apedra and Novolog) I’m amazed when I add it up. I’m sure I’m not alone.
You’re definitely not. I counted once when I was in middle school. I took into account all the times my regimen had changed (started at 6x/day when first diagnosed, gradually decreased to 3x/day and stayed there 'till college) and got around 10,000. As of right now, figuring an average of 4 injections per day over 23 years I’m at 33,580 insulin injections.
