Adjusting Lantus for Workouts

Hello all! I recently stopped using my insulin pump for the first time in 18 years, and I'm taking Lantus and Humalog. I'm a runner and I swim and do a lot of different types of physical activity. My Dr and I are in the midst of some exhausting trial and error to figure out what to do with my Lantus dose for my workout schedule.  I feel like a newly dx diabetic again! Who else is on Lantus? What works for you when it comes to your exercise routine?

I'm a pumper, but common sense would suggest that you try to exercise when your blood sugar is naturally higher, like in the morning if you have Dawn Phenomenon.  

Or you can have a lower Lantus dose to accomodate the exercise and take more or larger doses of fast acting insulin to offset it.
