Friendships and type 1 diabetes research study

Hi everyone,

I am a psychology graduate student at Boston University doing my dissertation research on community supports. I'm trying to learn what aspects of social connections are the most powerful in helping people with various conditions stay psychologically healthy and be able to enjoy life.

This is clearly a wonderful community of people who are interested in sharing information and helping each other out. Would any of you who are in the Boston, MA area be interested in participating in my study?

I am looking for people who are between 16-30 years old and have been diagnosed with Type I diabetes sometime in the past five years. The study involves one meeting of about 2 hours - mostly interviews and questionnaires (no pills or medical procedures). I keep everything strictly confidential. Participants are compensated $50 for their time and contribution.

If you're interested, please free to contact me by email at or by phone at 617-516-5121. You can also go to the study website for more details at

Thanks very much!

Hey i would be intrested although i am 16 but i have had diabetes for 7yrs and i dont actually live in america sorri

I live in the Boston area and could easily participate in the study (I'm 16), but I have had diabetes for about 12 years...

I'm sure you'll find some people on this site that fit your criteria, but if you ever lax your criteria you might get more (online/phone survey/interview, larger age/diagnosis window).  Sorry I can't help, good luck.

Thanks so much Katie and Chloe for your interest and Eric for your good wishes!  I wish my study was able to include you and others who have been living with diabetes for longer than 5 years.

Hi im 11 and id love to know if you are going too clara barton too
