Insulin Patch?

Hi everyone! I have been doing some research about getting the insulin pump vs. getting the insulin patch. I don't know if the patches are available yet but they offer some cool features so I am thinking it might be worth the wait!  I wondered if anyone else has looked into the patch? And what everyone else thinks about the patch vs. pump?

These are the two patches I have looked into:

Thanks!

Re: IQ Patch.

It really doesn't give enough information for me to give an opinion on the device itself. my thoughts though, is that it's not going to work. The IQ Pump is laughable. "Smallest basal increment available, 0.009 units" is that even possible?

Re: My Finesse.

I don't get it..you just squeeze to get a dose? so every squeeze = 1unit of insulin? makes no sense to me. how do you know when it's empty? how do you know it's given you a dose? and wtf is with the picture of the girl's face with a ladybug sticker on her cheek?

I use a patch system for birth control (http://www.orthoevra.com/index.html) but I wouldn't use an insulin system that is like that. Doesn't seem reliable as we're talking about insulin not hormones.

I use syringes(tried the pump and didn't like it), but if I had NO choice and had to choose between the pump and the patch..I'd go with the pump.

The patch thing sounds cool to me.   I couldn't really get a lot of info from the links you provided.  Does look like some kinks need to be worked out.  But I'm glad to hear someone's working on them and evidently marketing them.  I don't use a pump am waiting for something better.  This could be it?  I'll continue to wait and see.  thanks for t he info.

Why do I need an insulin patch? Am I trying to quit Diabetes? I'm not addicted, I can quit whenever I want.

Batts makes good points regarding the product in question. I'll stick with my pump.

Lol! You're just worried that girls will think you're wearing a birth control patch!

I would never try any of these things until they've been on the market for long enough to work out the kinks. Wouldn't want to take any risks with something as important as insulin.

After looking at the two sites, the second seems simpler, like less could go wrong. But, if you push it once per unit, I'm imaging before Thanksgiving dinner. Knowing myself, I'd totally loose track of pushing it 15+ times. (:

Interesting idea, though. Almost like a port, but don't have to deal with it except for every 3 days...

yeah, but can it be made into something that can absorb into the skin? i've only seen insulin in a liquid form. that's more what i meant.

ALSO how do you control the absorption rate with the patch? how do you cover meal doses? how do you deal with people who need more insulin at night verse in the morning?
