Ok, I first want to say, i have NOTHING against the older generation and my heart goes out to each and every one who is living with Diabetes (no matter what type it is), but i'm just a little upset right now!! I am a single mother (and proud of it) raising a Type 1 diabetic 6yr old. Why is it when i look on line, in magazines or call diabetic companies inquiring about FREE diabetic stuff its only for people on medicaid? What about our youth, don't they deserve FREE meters, strips, lancits and education as well. I've tried signing up for diabetic nutrition classes and they are on Tuesday at 10am (hello, i'm at work at 10am) i asked why they have the class at that hours of course they told me because that was the best time for the Senior Homes! To me THAT'S NOT FAIR!! Again, this has NOTHING to do with Diabetics that are over a certain age, but again what about the younger generations? This kids can benefit from all the "Free" stuff too!... I tried getting assistance but of course they claim i make too much money (yeah right, i don't think they really know the cost of living these days). My daughters meds alone are over $100 a month so if i could find free lancets, testing strips or syrenges do you know how awesome that would be. I think i'm just fusterated because the reality of all of this is finally starting to set in and the more i try to reach out for help, the LESS help i'm finding......
Again, to all my "older" Diabetics, this was nothing against any of you. I kinda feel like you all are the "better taken care of " ones since so much more is readily available to you. I can go on to just about any diabetic web site and find something FREE for medicaid... You all have fought long fights and YES BY ALL MEANS, you DO deserve things for FREE and whatever you can get for FREE. I just wish more companies would think about the "younger" diabetics
Maybe i'm looking in the wrong places or asking the wrong people for help. If anyone knows of any sites or organizations that do offer Free supplies please post and share.
Thanks and Bless you all!!
