Low BS after eating Olive Garden... Small Yet Exciting Victory

For anyone who knows about Olive Garden.  It's one of my favorite restaurants, but it never makes my BS happy.  It's just so hard to eat the right things and moderate the portions.  But two hours after the OG my BS was 148.  Not perfect, but really good for me, especially when I've had problems with my BS spiking after meals.

congrats! haha That is a complete success in my book! I have been CRAVING Olive Garden for days, but I have a tough time bolusing for all the carbs I consume when there. :) Payday is Friday and I think I'm going to have to go!

Matt,

WOOOHOOOOOOO! - Right ON!  That is fantastic news, and it is a victory.  Perfection doesn't exist and we don't always hit the mark the way we like but if we're going to knock ourselves for our miscalculations, it is only right to celebrate the successes!

Very well done!

Cheers!

Good Job Matt keep up the good work ! I ate at Olive Garden this past Friday. I had Chicken Parm. What did you have, just curious, lol.

thats pretty good for after olive garden which is like ALL carbs

We don't have Olive Garden restaurants in Canada anymore - or at least not in Ontario anyways.  I miss them!!!  Loved their salads!

Hi everyone, my name is Kelli and I just signed up. I made a friend through one of the websites 4 diabetics and she told me about this website. I was noticing as i was reading that a lot of people are on CGM. Does ur insurance pay 4 that?

i think there might be a few around vancouver. olive garden is soo good!

In my book, 148 after a meal is great. I know some people aim for 120 after, but then I sometimes go low before my next meal. Even when I was pregnant, my doctors were happy w/ 120-150 pp.

i went there a couple days ago and had a meal with about 20 carbs (the mixed grill)i think it was and my blood sugar went super high. how does 20 carbs do that? and i knew it was for sure 20 carbs or however much it was because tthey had the nutrition info!

Courtenay, according to their website, the Mixed Grill has 48 g of carbs.  If you only bolused for 20g, this would explain why your BG spiked!

Sometimes you have to be careful with nutrition guides too because what it says on there might not include everything in the meal.  Also with restaurants I always bolus more than for what it says because my sugar always seems to spike after.  They might have put more sauce on it than they normally do or anything can come up.  I find eating out very frustrating..
