Whatever you do, demo both pumps. It's a big and important decision, so make sure you make your decision with the best information.
I spent 20 years on a tubed pump (Medtronic/MiniMed) and I just switched to the OmniPod. I LOVE not having to carry around the pump anymore, sleeping and living without tubing and a tangled pump, and the freedom of having the cord cut. Many people worry about the fact that if they don't have the PDM with them, they won't be able to bolus. But this ignores a huge benefit of the OmniPod, which is that you don't have to be tethered with a tube to a pump anymore -- at work, when you're asleep, when you are working around the house, etc.
After 20 years of tubing, I learned to ignore it. But by switching away from it, there is no way I would consider going back to it. It's been awesome.
Good luck with your decision.
