I am a mom of a 12 yr old girl diagnosed type 1 at age 8. I think she could benefit from talking to a therapist who is familiar with the challenges and unpredictibility of diabetes. I think she is sad and feeling bad too much of the time.
I like your profile name =) yes I think it helps esp if she has become depressed. Depression with diabetes happens quite a bit. I don't know how you go about getting a T1 therapist but there must be some. I use a network through my company insurance and the people there are very helpful. You can also try counselors who specialize in grief, terminal illness, and maybe trauma. good luck to you. Also you can join the many online comunities that have a Type 3 forum, so you can get advice and many points of view!
and take a look at diabetes camps, and the JDRF local support, there HAS to be a local chapter near Chicago.
